What’s Happening in Austin This Week?
September 14–20, 2026
Fall may not feel completely here yet, but Austin’s calendar is definitely shifting into fall mode. From big-name concerts and football to film, theater and Museum Day, there’s plenty going on around town this week.
🎶 MUSIC, MUSIC & MORE MUSIC This is Austin, after all!
Monday, September 14: J. Cole brings his Fall-Off Tour to the Moody Center, while Blue Monday featuring Soul Man Sam, Lindsay Beaver & Planet Dev takes over Antone’s.
Tuesday, September 15: Kehlani performs at Germania Insurance Amphitheater, with Kelela at Emo’s and Ken Carson at the Moody Center.
And the weekend keeps the music coming, with Thomas Rhett at the Moody Center on Thursday and Billy Currington performing in Round Rock on Friday.
Looking for something besides a concert? Come From Away is playing at ZACH Theatre beginning Wednesday, September 16. The Tony Award-winning musical tells the remarkable true story of thousands of airline passengers stranded in Newfoundland after the September 11 attacks.
Movie fans, this one's for you. Fantastic Fest kicks off Thursday, September 17, and runs through September 24. The Austin-based festival specializes in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and other wonderfully unusual films from around the world.
Definitely not your typical movie night!
HOOK ’EM! Check the schedule here Saturday night is football night in Austin.
The Texas Longhorns take on UTSA at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium at 7:00 p.m. If you're heading anywhere near campus, plan accordingly—traffic, parking and crowds will be a little different than your average Saturday night.
For something a little different, Flamenco Under the Stars takes place Friday and Saturday, September 18–19, at the Beverly S. Sheffield Hillside Theater in Zilker Park.
Outdoor performances, flamenco and an Austin evening? Sounds like a pretty good combination to me.
Sunday, September 20 is Austin Museum Day, when participating museums and cultural organizations open their doors for free exhibitions and activities.
This is one of my favorite kinds of Austin events because you can explore places you may have driven past a hundred times but never actually visited. Participating locations include the Carver Museum, Old Bakery & Emporium, Elisabet Ney Museum, Dougherty Arts Center and more.
🌿 HELEN’S PICK
My pick this week? Get outside and enjoy Austin before the real fall weather arrives. Grab a coffee, visit Texas Farmers Market , take a walk around Zilker Park and Garden, or head out toward the Hill Country in Llano Texas.
One of the best things about living in Austin is that you don't have to wait for a major festival to find something interesting to do.
